The basic idea of Soundwalks is for a group of people to gather and walk together without communicating for one hour. They are a simple listening exercise and in this simplicity there exists the potency of an archaic human need to walk and listen alone and in a group. There is no fee for this event, all that is needed is the desire/ability to walk in silence.
Anthony Magen is a Melbourne-based musician/sound artist who has worked with the likes of Rod Cooper and Splinter Orchestra. He is currently the secretary of the Australian Forum for Acoustic Ecology and has been leading Soundwalks for several years, including most recently at the NOW NOW Festival in NSW.
