Joel Crosswell ‘It Only Comes Out At Night’

Sculptural work in LIGHTBOX, Salamanca Arts Centre

Open Mon – Fri, 10am-5pm, Sat 10am – 4pm

It Only Comes Out At Night looks back at past memories as a child growing up surrounded by a large, dense pine forest. At night time Joel’s imagination would run wild with thoughts of mysterious creatures lurking in the forest and in amongst the shadows. The insecurities he felt as a child, worrying about imaginary creatures and monsters, gradually began to fade away and re-evolve into new worries through his adolescence. This sculpture brings together these different stages of his life presented in a dark but comical way.
